Common Art - Concept Art

Concept of a prop for our common art project. I was tasked with creating a prized possesion of our basement dwelling hero. Took inspiration from the entertainment landscape of the time to build a console and TV.

I was also tasked with building a composting solution in blender that would take in a render of a scene and kick out a painted image. Blender's compositor is actually pretty powerful all things considered.

Left is the raw render from EEVEE, right is after post processing.

Common Art - Further Character Exploration

Process breakdown for further character exploration in Common Art. Material capture is still a weakness of mine, but over the course of the last few week I can feel my line and value choices becoming more confident.

Common Art - Protomeshes

This week was a protomeshing exercise. This is a workflow I have no prior experience with this workflow, but seeing all the art on the wall at FIEA has been a really cool experience.

Common Art - Silhouttes

Silhouette exploration and ideation for common art. The prevailing idea in Rachet and Clank's shape design is the 80/20 rule. Most of a characters major shapes are self similar (A mostly square character's secondary and tertiary shapes are also mostly squares). This was a lot more difficult to execute on the human character, where in universe reference was extremely limited.

Common Art - Reference Gathering

A portion of the work I  did for our common art reference gathering assignment. I worked on laying out the final slides, as well as creating a template for the team to use. I was also tasked with keeping the group organized. Blessedly, we had a team of passionate professionals who met every day to keep this project on track. Hopefully I'll be able to enable them and keep up the pace for the rest of the semester.
